Excerpt:
“Come on, Savannah.” Lisa shot a glare in Alex’s direction that made me wince. “This is ridiculous. You’re going to let him stop you from having fun tonight?”

“I really don’t want to give him an excuse to cause a scene.”

“I think you should cause one,” Maria said. “And dump his sorry ass the way you should have done a long time ago.”

Maybe. But this was hardly the time or place for such a confrontation.

And there were some things about Alex that I really liked, though I was having trouble remembering any of them at the moment. I wasn’t sure that I was ready to let go of this relationship just yet.

I plastered on another false smile. “Let’s have a round of shots before you guys head back out onto the floor.”

Both of my friends gave me knowing looks. They were well-aware of how much I hated shots.

But the guys who were with them didn’t, and they agreed rather enthusiastically. The order was placed, and I could feel Alex’s eyes still burning into me as I downed the intense drink. My eyes watered and my throat burned, but somehow, I managed to swallow.

Without choking and making an ass of myself, the way I had the last time I’d attempted to drink a shot.

My friends soon left again. I finished off my rum and coke and decided to order straight up rum alone.

If I had to be alone and miserable, I might as well drink.

It was a very good thing that I wasn’t the designated driver tonight.

After just half a drink, I was feeling the effects. Someone had once told me—couldn’t remember who—that mixing different kinds of alcohol was a recipe for getting drunk faster. Or a worse hangover. I’m not sure which.

Or maybe it was both.

Either way, the only thing that mattered at the moment was the fact that my bladder felt like it was about to burst. I stood, not bothering to push my skirt down the way I had before, and staggered toward the restrooms.

For once, luck was on my side. There was no line.

I finished my business and headed back out. Still unsteady on my feet.

And I ran straight into a very solid male body.

The impact wasn’t much, but it was more than enough to knock me onto my ass. I landed with my legs spread. If it hadn’t been so dark, he and every other guy nearby would have been able to get a good look at just what I wasn’t wearing under my dress.

Namely, no underwear.

Not for the reasons that Alex would have accused me of, but because the form-fitting lines of the dress would have been ruined.

“Sorry about that.” The guy held out his hand. “You okay?”

“Thank you.” I let him pull me up and began to shiver. Tremble. His hand was a little rougher on the palm than I was used to but very warm.

I peered up into his face.

Whoever he was, he was fucking gorgeous. My pussy instantly grew slick and wet and my nipples hardened.
